Résumé:
La peinture représente la célèbre bataille du 3 février 1759 à Qurman 呼 爾 滿 dans l'actuel Xinjiang ( 新 疆 ). Jusqu'à cette bataille, la province du Xinjiang n'était pas sous contrôle chinois mais sous contrôle musulman. En 1760, l'empereur Qianlong commanda 16 grandes peintures (8 m de large x 4 m de haut) de ses victoires, réalisées à la fois par les peintres de la cour et les pères jésuites européens, Jean Denis Attiret (王 致 誠 Wang Zhicheng) and Giuseppe Castiglione ( 郎 世 寧 Lang Shining). Ces gravures/peintures sont connues sous le nom "Les Conquetes de L'Empereur de la Chine".
