L'auteur s'intéresse au livre de la pharmacopée chinoise, le Bencao 本草 des Tang (618-907) et relève différentes erreurs dans les éditions successives, selon les théories de l'époque en cause. Ainsi, la porcelaine blanche de Guangzhou 广州 devient poreclaine blanche de Dingzhou 定州 en 1061 dans une édition des Song.
